Gavin Margetson
About
Gavin Margetson is an international commercial arbitrator and dispute resolution lawyer based in Singapore. He has specialised in international arbitration for over 25 years, acting as lead counsel in complex, high-value arbitrations and more recently sitting as arbitrator.
Gavin began his career at Herbert Smith in London in 1999. In 2004, he moved to Asia to work in-house at Marubeni Corporation in Tokyo. In 2006, he re-joined Herbert Smith and became a partner in 2010. From 2014 to 2017, he oversaw Herbert Smith's operations in Bangkok and worked on arbitrations across Southeast Asia. Since 2017, he has been based full-time in Singapore. In 2025, he joined Charles Russell Speechlys to spearhead its international arbitration practice in the region.
Gavin is admitted to practise in England & Wales and has been called to the Singapore Bar. He speaks English and is conversant in Japanese.
